Horay! Our family is safe and sound in Jakarta and doing well. The kids have been great travelers so far and are excited by everything they see. They don't seem to mind anything that is new or different, which is good because a lot of things are new and different (although Natasha commented when we were in a shopping mall that "I almost forgot we were in Jakarta because this place looks just like Washington, DC!"). For the past few days, the kids have been very happy swimming in the hotel pool, making pool friends from all over the world, and venturing out for the occasional sight-seeing, or house-hunting trip.
Although we haven't ventured very far in Jakarta yet, I have attached several pictures of the kids in the Jakarta airport (after two very looong flights here), a Jakarta shopping mall (with ice skating rink), celebrating Hanukkah, and enjoying their first international Skype call!
