The White House . . . really it is!

Two days after coming back from Spring Break in Malaysia, our overseas shipment from the United States was delivered to, and unloaded at our new house.   All 232 boxes!  It didn't take quite this long to get here from the U.S. - the container was in storage since its arrival in February - it just took us this long to get into a house.  

Below are some pictures of the house, with our preliminary attempt to get each room in working order.  More decorating, unpacking and rearranging will take place over the next few weeks, months . . . and, I suppose, years.

The movers brought and unloaded our container that came by ship from the US.  All 232 boxes!

The flatbed truck is literally assembled around the container, so they have to break down the walls of the truck in order 
to unload it. 

One interesting detail about Indonesian movers, is that while carrying 232 boxes and some very heavy furniture, all of the movers were BAREFOOT!  Since many Indonesians do not wear shoes in their homes, the moving company has a rule that movers cannot wear shoes.  This is common to see, however, as many people in manual labor jobs work in bare feet.

The Guest Room . . . so now that you know we have one, when are you coming to visit???  We have plenty of room for two or four people, or could squeeze in more if necessary.

The room adjoining the patio/pool, is called our "zen room" and will be filled with very simple, clean, Japanese-style furniture.

Now, here's the house with some furniture in it . . .

This is our living room with 3-couch set we bought from another expat leaving town.  We also purchased the coffee table and TV stand from a local furniture store that we love.  Click on the picture and you can see the "hole" design on both pieces.

We had this two-tone dining room table made here too.   We showed the furniture designers a photo and they copied it EXACTLY!   It seats eight people and has a removable leaf to allow seating for twelve.
