Feeling 1000 miles away . . .
As a Committee Chairperson for the United Nations Local Expat Spouses Association ("UNLESA"), I helped to organize a social outing for us and our spouses to go the Indonesian Thousand Islands, just off the coast of Jakarta. A group of about 15, we took a speed boat 1 hour away and past all the pollution and gunk in the Jakarta waters, docked at a virtually uninhabited island with turquoise waters, and relaxed there for a while. Then, we took a short 15 minute ride to another island for a delicious lunch. And, afterwards, we went another 20 minutes away to a third island, where we relaxed once again and did a little snorkeling. It was a wonderful way to get out of Jakarta and see some beautiful beaches and lovely clean air. Below are some pictures from our relaxing day-trip on the water. We certainly felt like we were 1000 miles away . . .
